Setting: Hyrule Kingdom, early war time.

Purpose For Game:
Ocarina of Time prequel

Show how Ganondorf learned about the Triforce

The cause of the factions warring in the first place

Summary: The past of Hyrule was renowned for its peaceful relations amongst the tribes. In recent years though, that peace is no more. For inexplicable reasons, all the allied tribes began to turn against each other and declare war on Hyrule and each other. Unable to understand why this has come to be, it is realized that some force must be behind each of the other tribes turning against them in the recent years. So, a young soldier, renowned for his kindness and skill, is chosen to investigate the source of these problems, and hopefully, stop the war from its source before Hyrule is torn apart.

Zelda: Zelda in this game is actually not a princess, but a queen. But she also has a younger brother for this game, the one meant to be the king that befriends Darunia. She ends up realizing all these factions declaring war, and all at once at that, can't be mere coincidence. She is also, in turn, the one that entrusts the mission to Link to find out the source of the dangers. She has the Sheikah aid him in this task as well, Link being the more peaceful front to the operation....

Link: For this game, Link is an adult and loyal soldier in the army. But, for this, since Link is meant to be peacefully going through the land on his journey, he's not allowed to wear his normal Hyrulian General garb(though it may later be acquired).

Special Features For Link: Been honestly debating what to have for Link in this. But, after some thinking, decided to have it so that his special ability is heightened senses due to years of training, able to use it for detecting enemies and even their weak points in some cases, and this ability is needed to see through the main villain's specialty: illusions. Something that'll be semi-common for the game both for puzzles and for some enemy types.

Plot Points: WARNING. MAJOR PLOT POINTS AHEAD.

Early in the game, after the usual training segment since Link is an older high ranking knight in Hyrule for this, he's soon summoned by Zelda, whom has realized that the tensions between the tribes rose too quickly at near the same time to be mere coincidence.

So, she orders Link to go, undercover(without his Hyrule armor), to find the source of these conflicts, and if possible, correct them where able while finding whatever is causing them in the first place.

At the time he's given this assignment, all the known tribes at the time have started to oppose the Hyrule Kingdom, even the usually recluse Mogmas to the north, and the Kikwis near Hyrule Lake. The only tribe that has yet to turn against them... are the Gerudo. So, she suggests to Link that he go there first. Whatever's been targetting the tribes' loyalties will likely target them next, and even if he doesn't get any intel, he can at least forewarn them of what's been happening.

He goes there and finds that they've been fortified, but not against Link. He asks in and is allowed to enter, finding that it's ruled by Twinrova of the Gerudo. She, though, is surprisingly helpful to Link. Saying that they've noticed the pattern, and thus why they're fortifying, and why he was escorted with full guards. She suggests he explores the tribes that have turned against Hyrule to find clues.

Link leaves.... as Twinrova sneakily smirks behind him.

Afterwards.... Link returns to Hyrule, having promised to return after every trip to deliver any intel he gains... and while there, often visits the young prince, Zelda's son(to be the king mentioned offhandedly by Darunia during Ocarina of Time) to train and inform of what he has learned, as part of his tutelage to help him understand what's going on in the kingdom. Eventually, the young prince joins Link on the trip to the Goron tribe, thus leading them to become sworn brothers to a young Darunia, but that's one of the later dungeon trips. But, that's one of the later visits.

As Link goes from town to town, he gradually helps them out, showing them that Hyrule was not to blame. The Mogmas and Kikwis though still decide to try and stay out of the war till the situation is settled, if it's ever settled.

However, it's not so easy with the Zora and Gorons. With the things that have happened to them, they still blame Hyrule for most of their problems. But, Link wasn't assigned fixing them as his main mission. Just to find info, and he does that, so it's with reluctance that he continues his mission, but the young to-be rulers of the tribes believe Link that Hyrule isn't truly to blame due to events with them, no matter what their predecessors have been led to believe.

Throughout the adventure, Link learns that whenever these events occurred, a strange cloaked figure appeared, and strange events also followed. After talking with Zelda about these details at length... they realize that the starting points of these problems were caused by illusions. Illusions.... from a Sheikah. Learning this, Link is given the task and the location of the known Sheikah village to visit. He goes there, helps them out as well, and learns that all the problems started after one of their Sheikah were exiled. He must be the cause.

With the intel from the Sheikah, he learns that they've been able to narrow down his base to an underground facility under Kakariko's well.

Eventually, Link goes there, thinking it to be the final battle. After beating the Sheikah, Bongar, he yells it's too soon. He starts to pull out an amulet, stating that he never thought he'd have to use the gift HE gave to him. He activates the amulet, and then screams in pain, asking what happened. A discombobulated voice comes into being. Stating so he was finally pushed into a corner. Thanks to him, he now knows what to prepare against and what was needed. Thanking him SOOO much for his aid to finding the path to the Triforce.

Bongar is furious. "My aid?!" he exclaims. He says that were it not for him, the sorceror speaking to them wouldn't have even known about the Triforce's existence, nor would he been able to discover whom is holding two of the keys, the ruby and the sapphire. The sorceror chuckles, saying: "Did you think you were the only one looking for clues? That naive prince gladly gave me most of what we need. Such a young fool." This catches Link's attention quite sharply. "Besides, were it not for my wife's summons, your plans wouldn't have worked near as well as they have." Bongar: "You mean that *highlighted*twin-tailed gerudo witch? She just sat in her fortress and let the creatures do the work! I risked my life in and out for this additional info!" Sorceror: "And yet, you failed to get what was needed directly from your Sheikah Chief, which would have made this so much easier. But enough chitchat. It's clear that the third stone must be hidden among a tribe that hid long before our efforts to start war, just like the Mogma and Kikwis have chosen to do recently. And considering rumors... I already have a general idea of where next to search. But for you.... your usefulness has expired, Bongar. At least... as a sentient being...." The amulet that was given to him starts to glow and wrap around Bongar, starting to transform him. "You served us well, Bongar... but now, I think a new name should come about for your new form. Perhaps based on that instrument you use in your illusion craft... Bongo Bongo, should do." Bongar: "Curse you... (insert name that hasn't been chosen for the Prince's magic teacher in Hyrule)."

Needless to say, he transforms, into a smaller but still somewhat cunning version of Ocarina of Time's Bongo Bongo, before he had got his hands cut off, which is done during the battle by Link. This time using more of his shadow based powers and illusions due to having not quite completely lost his sanity, though he gets less human in his actions the further in the battle gets.

Eventually, Link is able to cut off Bongo Bongo's hands. And eventually, using some of the crystals in the room that he had used when human to aid in his illusions, Link forces the crystals to land on Bongo Bongo, trapping his shadowy form in them, but also causing a cave in to the chamber and forcing Link to flee as the chamber collapses, finishing the boss battle as a heart container pops out of the falling boulder wreckage.

After exiting the dungeon, he realizes that he must return quickly. If that magic teacher is the real mastermind, Zelda and the prince must learn of it immediately. But when he gets there, he finds out the sorcerer has gone missing. They're shocked to learn that he was behind it, and realize the witch that was mentioned must be Twinrova as well. He's given the task to take them down, but are warned that it'll be dangerous. He agrees, and before he leaves, makes a promise with the young prince that if things go wrong, the prince won't give up till the warring tribes have been brought back to peace. Link nods in solemn happiness, glad that that can at least be counted on... as he looks towards the dessert with feelings of foreboding(possibly hinted at via non-raining storm clouds appearing above the dessert, filled with dark energies).

Link travels to the Gerudo Fortress, intending to confront Twinrova and the sorcerer. When he gets there, he finds monster corpses having been summoned to combine with the fortress into a massive dungeon barricade, blocking the path to the dessert beyond, clearly trying to prevent him from entering beyond the fortress. Obviously, that must be where the sorcerer has went.

After fighting through various Gerudo warriors and other monsters in the fortress, he makes it to the boss chamber.... which is actually OUTSIDE the fortress in the starting area of the desert.

There, he finds Twinrova waiting for him. She's impressed Link has made it this far. She guesses it's time for her to stop him herself. "However..." she pauses and places a hand on her stomach affectionately. "...I can't afford to take you on directly. Thankfully.... I won't have to." She pulls out her wands and aims them at a crystal down below. It activates an array of crystals that it's connected to, creating a MASSIVE magic circle. And from it erupts a massive serpentine monster of some sort(haven't decided a design though, since it could be snake like, bug like, or what have you. Just a very long serpentine form).

With this, thus starts a desert two-on-one boss fight. Link handicapped by walking in the sand, while having to face the giant monster while Twinrova, high in the sky, attacks from afar.

In the end, at battle's end, Link finishes the attack by reflecting a charged laser from Twinrova, splitting the giant serpentine monster straight down the middle, it falling down into halves to either side as far as the eye can see. Seeing this, Twinrova is pissed, but decides she can still make use of it. She summons a baby dodongo in a sphere, stating 'essence of dodongo' and sends it into its corpse. Suddenly, massive explosions fill the air all along its corpse, Link having to flee back for a moment to escape the blasts.... as he looks back, he finds a massive sandy canyon, the desert beneath him starting to slowly flow like water into the dual sandfalls forming the crevice.

Twinrova laughs. A great obstacle. Even if Link could find a way across, he could never make it back over that obstacle.

Link tries to shoot her, but she easily dodges, saying she can see his arrows come and dodge them even before he fires them. That Link will never reach her. She starts to laugh, when down below, Link smirks, unsheaths his sword and changes his hold on it so that he'll slice not with the blade, but with the side of his sword. He then uses his free hand to pull out a bomb, tosses it up, then use the sword in an upward slice to send it flying at Twinrova.

Twinrova, shocked, gets caught in the blast before she realizes what's happening, sending her flying with a scream into the chasm her monster's corpse created. Afterwards, Link finds no sight of her.

From there, he sees a few leftover catapults that could allow him access to the desert beyond the chasm. However, if he uses it, there's no turning back. So, if he goes to follow the sorcerer, it'll be time for the endgame.

Needless to say, regardless of being unable to return if he goes, he decides to go to end this, in order to protect Hyrule.

As he crosses over, he finds himself in a desert of illusions.... the last dungeon of the game. With various constructs of magic grown out of the desert sands to disable to find the path onwards. As he finishes the dungeon, the place collapses into the desert sands, leaving only a single structure behind, one that Ocarina of Time players will recognize as where the Poe Guide resides.

And at the end, he finds the Desert Colossus... where the Sorceror has been waiting for him. He never expected Link to make it this far. He knew he was strong, but this is beyond even his expectations. It's no wonder Zelda chose him for the mission he was assigned.

But, he says he's come too far, too close to finding the Triforce, to allow Link to stop him now. Stating it's time to end his mission... that it's only too bad... it'll end in failure. And thus starts the boss fight.

For this boss fight, the sorcerer is a master spellcaster. Not only does he know illusions like Bongo Bongo, but he also knows how to cast many other spells and combine illusions with them, putting this older Link's sixth sense to the test in order to combat both the spells and illusions. He can even make some of his illusions solid, for them to deal damage, but that's a limited ability. Only a small number of illusions can be solid at any one time.

Regardless, Link eventually kills him. The sorcerer laughs, stating that though he'll die... at least Link will die with him. There's no way for him to return to Hyrule... that this desert shall be his grave. And his final illusion shall ensure it. He casts a spell towards the desert.... and a sandstorm appears, one Ocarina of Time players no doubt will remember.

Seeing his work, he smiles at Link. Stating now, one of the greatest obstacles towards obtaining the Triforce shall never return to Hyrule. He may die... but his will shall live on with his family. "Farewell... warrior of Hyrule..." stating his last dying breath.

With that, Link then tries to return.... but finds that it's impossible. Every time he tries to get through the illusions, he's returned back to the colossus, and the strong sand winds hinder his sixth sense. Years later.... he eventually makes it to the other side, having marked his path on the way little by little to find a path through the illusions. But by then, he's too old to find a way across the chasm on the other side. At this point, he cannot continue.... the desert has taken its toll upon him.

Thus, he turns to his friend he made along the journey. A surprisingly peaceful young poe (Hadn't thought of when he'd meet him/her. Just that he meets a young poe early on that he befriends as his aid in this game). It is then that Link has his final conversation before he dies, though in the usual fashion, the gamers have to guess what he says due to the replies of the poe.

Basically, Link has full faith that Zelda and her son shall be able to cause peace to return to Hyrule once more, even with his absence, now that the instigator of the war has died. This brings peace and calm to his heart.... his only regret, is that he won't be around to see it. However... what was said by the sorcerer worries him. He has faith in the prince, but it's likely that he left records of his research somewhere in the colossus. It was certainly large enough to be a sizable base should another evil one day find it. As such, he asks the poe, that should another warrior need to find his way to that evil place, that the poe will be their guide. He has a feeling that it has more importance than either of them know, and they are the only ones that know the way through the sandstorm of illusions. The poe agrees, honored to even have the chance to carry out his final request. With that, Link smiles and returns to the building nearest the chasm, accepting his death in its thralls.

The credits of the game show scenes with the prince making peace among the tribes and what has happened, with the poe flying overhead before returning to the building, bowing before a grave before pulling out a lamp, going out to serve its duty as a guide as it waits in the air above the building, becoming the guide of the Gerudo Desert.

Then, after the credits, it shows that Twinrova survived, pissed at Hyrule's lapdog for killing her husband... it shows her wandering into a room with scrolls to a desk, stating that she won't allow his research to go in vane. Neither her, nor.... their son....(motioning to her stomach as she says this) The Triforce WILL belong to them and the Gerudo, if they have anything to say about it.

And thus ends the game.

Additional Notes: For the sorcerer, every time Link leaves the Prince after visiting him in the game, there is some foreshadowing in those scenes as he goes to his magic teacher, the foreshadowing varying per scene.

Also, when Link goes to try and fix things with the Zora and Goron, circumstances will lead to the Prince accompanying them, leading him and Link to befriend the Zora and Goron that eventually become the corresponding tribal leaders for those tribes that are known within Ocarina of Time.

Additionally, did some thinking on the sorcerer's final form. Imagine the sorcerer transformed with an illusion form poking out of his skin and face, forming solid energy upon him like a defense. The illusion, though solid, is composed of energy, almost resembling glass but with energy flowing through it as his eyes glow in power. And since the form is energy, there'd be parts included with it, like wings for instance, that are detached and floating near the body, so essentially having floating body parts included in the illusion fused form.

On top of this illusion fused form and able to use the detached illusion body parts in ways... his form actually doesn't look as evil as expected, yet still sinister. The reason for this.... originally, the sorcerer was good. But, by falling in love with Twinrova, he learned how harsh the desert life was for the Gerudo. So, when he learned the royal family was hiding something like the Triforce, something that had the potential to help so many tribes, something they were keeping for themselves... it infuriated him, eventually causing him to spite his own homeland due to believing they've come to think of themselves above the other tribes, not realizing the true reason why it's hidden. So, though his spite has led him to go far beyond being cruel to pursue his goals, he actually meant well for the other tribes, having only turned them against Hyrule, not each other.

Due to those facts, his transformed illusion state would be more whitish illusion form, almost like armor with floating parts also controlled by it, like weaponized wings for instance. But, other glows among them, like red glare from the visor, gives it a more sinister appearance.

Due to a dream, I'm thinking of calling the main villain 'Jamanos'. Though, if any fans can think up a better name, I'm open to suggestions.

I liked this one a lot. It's more... Story driven than actually only gameplay, which isn't a bad thing if done right.
